A massive agitation is going on against the illegal demolition of 5000 houses at Mandala, a slum in Mumbai. Many organization and activists are participating in this struggle. The agitators are demanding the rightful restoration of the land back to the slum dwellers.

Participating in a meeting held at Azad Maidan in support of the struggle, Justice Suresh, President of Lok Raj Sangathan, emphasized that the right to shelter is a constitutional right and that subsequent judgments by the judiciary have violated the spirit of the constitution.

He also condemned the arrest of several activists who opposed the demolition drive.
